Download the RcBot2 bot manual installation package: RcBot2
So here's some very important instructions for this wonderful Bot plugin to work properly. It's a manual install basically but everything is on their respective folders already.
1. Firstly...Add the -insecure command to your "set launch options".
How to...
- Go to steam game library.
- Click PROPERTIES on the game you'll be using the bots with.
- Choose...SET LAUNCH OPTIONS
- On the box simply write....-insecure...as shown on the pic -insecure.jpg...DONE!
The picture, by the way, is located on the "extra files" folder. Also you need to remove the -insecure command if you'll play online servers normally with human players or you won't be able to connect.
2. Now extract the files on an empty folder and simply open the Steam folder and navigate until you get to which game you need to copy paste the bot files with. It's basically the same folder structure of Steam.
Example let's go to DOD: S...
- Open Day of Defeat Source folder and copy paste all the files to yours.
Ok almost done. Now open the addons folder and read number 3.
3. Open rcbot2.vdf using notepad or better yet open it with NOTEPAD++..google it and it's
free.
The vdf file is located here...
...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\addons\metamod
Edit this line accordingly to the exact location your rcbot2 folder is located...so here's an
example of mine...
"rcbot2path" "D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Day of Defeat Source\rcbot2"
That's very important or the bot won't move at all if they can't find it's waypoints and stuff contained in the rcbot2 folder.
4. Now launch your game and then load a stock map after which check your console if the rcbot plugin actually loaded, you'll see lots of txt/logs about it.
5. Now on the console execute...rcbot addbot...or better bind it like so...bind F5 "rcbot
addbot"...and press ENTER to save it on your config.cfg
For each press of F5 you spawn one bot and so on.
To kick a bot execute or bind....rcbot kickbot....EVERYTHING IS WRITTEN ON THE RCBOT MANUAL found inside the rcbot2 folder to learn more about it.
6. Spawning bots using configs...
Very useful for full control of spawning bots unevenly on either team or not.
On the EXTRA FILES folder simply copy paste the cfg files into your CFG game folder
found...
Example for dod: s.....\Steam\SteamApps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\cfg
...you put ONLY the rcbots_dods.cfg + game.cfg on your cfg folder
Now everytime you're in-game you simply press , or . to load a bot at a time on either team. Kickbot is binded on /
* In addition, these bots are also compatible with Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and the installation method is essentially the same, but changing the folder paths names, obviously.
* Although is preferrable to do this kind of manual installation so you can get familiarized with how RcBot2 works; in the case that you're having too much trouble, there is an automated installer system made by http://www.dodbits.com/dods/. Visit and read, learn there about RcBot2 waypoints. |
