Usage

The SRAW/Eryx are very effective against heavy armor and light armor alike, and even more so against light vehicles and stationary targets (AA/AT). The rockets are user guided once they are fired. When firing at a stationary target zoom in and line up the target and fire. Keep in mind that you can still guide the rocket to the target if the target decides to move once they get the lock-on warning. Hold down the fire button after you fire without letting go, and the view will remained zoomed in so you can better guide the rocket to its target. Try and aim for the vunerable areas of tanks, and other armor. Try aiming for the tracks, and the rear of the vehicle. These areas don't have a lot of armor and you'll inflict more damage.

If you are firing at a moving target you must lead (aiming ahead) the target. The rockets can't turn and maneuver quickly so if you give enough lead (more lead when you have more distance and/or a faster moving target) you can hold down the fire button after firing and keep your zoomed in view centered on the target so the rocket will continue heading for the target. Be prepared to adjust your view though. If it looks as if the rocket will fall behind the target, lead the target more until it looks like the rocket is heading for the target again. If the rocket looks like it will go in front of the target, aim farther back (the opposite of leading the target) until the rocket is back in line with the target.

These rocket launchers have a slow reload time, so quickly fire a shot at the target and duck behind some cover. So if you are defending a flag, and a tank rolls in, pop out of cover, fire, and duck behind cover without moving your mouse so you don't change the course of the rocket, and hopefully it will hit the tank before it moves. Don't fire from the same spot twice, the rockets leave a trail of smoke, which the tank driver can trace back to the point of origin, so if you are hiding behind a building, sneak over to the other side and fire, since more than likely he'll have his sights trained on the spot where you fired last.

In the 'real world'

The short range assault weapon (SRAW) was developed for the USMC as an anti-armour weapon for use against targets including tanks, buildings and bunkers in urban surroundings. The SRAW uses a point and shoot, fire and forget inertial guidance system that corrects in flight disturbances like crosswinds. It can be fired safely from enclosed places within the ranges of 17 m to 600 m meaning the personnel using it can remain relatively safe from return fire.

The Eryx is a short-range anti-armour system that entered service in 1994 and is produced by MBDA of France and by Aerospatiale of Canada. This weapon can destroy static and moving tanks including those fitted with ERA (explosive reactive armour) from ranges of 50 m to 600 m. The system consists of a missile and a launch tube and can be fired from the shoulder or from a prone position using a tripod. The missile is wire-guided, optically tracked with SACLOS guidance (semi-automatic command to line-of-sight) and can be fired on all terrains including confined spaces due to the thrust vector control. The Eryx can be armed and ready within 5 seconds and is capable of firing 5 missiles in 2 minutes. With the misile being armed with a 137 mm tandem, shaped charge high explosive warhead it is capable of penetrating 900 mm of ERA. All in all a very effective anti-armour weapon that will also easily destroy other types of vehicles and even concrete bunkers. 1)
