In the 'real world'
The QBZ-97 is a Chinese export version of the rarely seen QBZ-95 and it first appeared outside of the PLA in 1997. Both weapons are internally the same but the 97 was designed to use Nato 5.56 x 45 ammunition. It is a gas operated, rotating bolt action, magazine fed semi/automatic weapon capable of 650 rpm. Featuring the same design as the 95 and other Bullpup rifles means this weapon cannot be shouldered on the left as spent casings are ejected from the right side. The design also prevents using the weapon effectively whilst prone due to the placing of the sights leaving your head exposed. The QBZ is a very accurate weapon made from modern materials meaning it is also very lightweight. 1)
